Soil physics professor appointed to Independent Research Fund Denmark

The Department of Agroecology, Aarhus University, has supplied the Independent Research Fund Denmark | Technology and Production Sciences with a new member: Professor Lis Wollesen de Jonge.

Professor in soil physics Lis Wollesen de Jonge from the Department of Agroecology,  Aarhus University, has been appointed as a new member of the Independent Research Fund Denmark | Technology and Production Sciences for a four-year period with effect from 1 January 2019. 

Together with 17 other leading scientists Lis Wollesen de Jonge will contribute her expertise to identifying the research proposals that best represent independent research in Denmark in the area of technology and production sciences. 

- I am looking forward to the task. It is so important that someone will take on this type of work and it will be exciting to help choose the very best new research ideas within technology and production, says Lis Wollesen de Jonge. 

Professor Lis Wollesen de Jonge carries out research in a range of soil-related areas, including transport of pollutants in the soil, soil structure, and the interaction between processes in the soil and soil architecture. 

She has published more than 300 articles, 154 of which are in international scientific journals. Organisation of several successful PhD courses is also one of Lis Wollesen de Jonge’s many activities. 

- I think it will be rewarding and educational to work at the research council and I am glad that I can contribute with my knowledge and experience, says Lis Wollesen de Jonge.    

The Independent Research Fund Denmark has appointed a total of 24 new members and re-appointed 21 current members. There are all together five research councils: Technology and Production Sciences, Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences. 

Technology and Production Sciences has six new members, where Lis Wollesen de Jonge is the only new one from Aarhus University. Technology and Production Sciences has a total of 18 members.
