Nutrient and contaminant transport in agricultural landscapes

The fate of nutrients and contaminants and their impact on the environment is highly dependent on landscape factors. Complex interactions of climate, landscape structure and agricultural management with pedological and hydrological processes present a formidable challenge for predicting nutrient and contamination transport at the landscape scale. This hampers effective environmental protection in intensively managed agroecosystems. Our research aims to enhance the understanding of transfer processes across different scales for developing deterministic tools that aid effective mitigation planning and landscape administration.
