Disease and pest management

This research area centres on fungal disease biology and disease management, including chemical, biological control agents and cultural management methods.

We work with prevention and control of fungal diseases in conventional and organic plant production systems with the aim of avoiding yield and quality reduction while still ensuring profitability and environmentally friendly management.  We try to support the growers with solutions, which can be both new chemical solutions and solutions, which minimise dependency on specific chemical solutions.

The activities include basic studies on how to optimise control using different thresholds systems and interaction between cultivar resistance and fungicides. Major activities take place in both horticultural crops and arable crops such as potatoes and cereals.

We carry out policy support within this area, in particular with regard to supporting the Danish Environmental Protection Agency with efficiency assessments of pesticides that are under consideration for approval.
