Even if you have only the slightest interest in climate change, green transition or food production, you have without a doubt come across Jørgen E. Olesen from the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University. He appears on TV as well as in newspapers of both international, national and local character. He lectures, attends debate meetings, and travels the country to share his knowledge with among others decision makers.

Cited almost 17,000 times

And it is not only in Denmark we benefit from his extensive knowledge within the climate change and green transition of agriculture. Scholars from all over the world value his knowledge to such an extent that he has been quoted nearly 17,000 times during his career. And this year he has once again been quoted to such an extent that he has joined the distinguished list of elite researchers who have been quoted the most times during the past year. The list is each year compiled by Clarivate Plc. and it houses no more than 6,600 global researchers. This year there are 55 Danes on the list, of which 12 come from Aarhus University, including Jørgen E. Olesen.

Clarivate's list of highly cited researchers includes elite researchers in several different categories and research areas. Some of those categories are agricultural science, clinical medicine, or "cross field". It is the latter category that Jørgen E. Olesen belongs to. The category covers researchers who have made a name for themselves with scientific articles across several disciplines over the past decade.

Inspire younger researchers

Since 1985, Jørgen E. Olesen has authored or co-authored a huge number of reports, articles, and other publications, 333 of which have been published in scientific journals.

"It's great to get such a recognition. I think it is important that we in Denmark and at Aarhus University help to shape international research within the green transition of agriculture's climate and environmental challenges. I hope, among other things, that this can help inspire younger researchers to take an interest in these research areas, just as it may help to push for some
