Professor Davide Cammarano becomes President-Elect of the International Society of Precision Agriculture

Professor Davide Cammarano from the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University has been elected as the new President-Elect of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA), marking the beginning of a six-year journey that will see him transition into the role of President and later Past President of the society.

Professor Davide Cammarano has dedicated his career to advancing precision agriculture—a field that integrates technology and data to enhance sustainable agricultural practices worldwide. His election as President-Elect of ISPA is a testament to his contributions to this area of agricultural research.

“I am deeply honoured to be President-Elect of ISPA,” says Davide Cammarano. “Precision agriculture is at the forefront of sustainable farming practices, and I look forward to working with my colleagues around the world to drive innovation and knowledge in this field.”

A role with global impact

As President-Elect, Davide Cammarano will spend the next two years supporting the current President and helping to steer the direction of ISPA. His responsibilities will include organizing the society’s biennial International Conference on Precision Agriculture, developing educational initiatives, and enhancing collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.

Following his term as President-Elect, Davide Cammarano will assume the role of President for two years, where he will have the opportunity to shape the future of precision agriculture on a global scale. He will then transition to the role of President Past, providing guidance and continuity to the incoming leadership.

An international career in precision agriculture

Davide Cammarano’s journey to this prestigious role is marked by a career that spans continents and disciplines. After completing his studies in Italy, he embarked on an academic odyssey that took him to Australia, the USA, the UK, and finally Denmark. Throughout his career, he has focused on the integration of agronomy, climate adaptation, and cutting-edge technologies, with a particular interest in precision agriculture.

His research at Aarhus University continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in precision agriculture, exploring innovative methods to enhance sustainability and productivity in farming. Whether it’s through system-based modelling to address climate change or the application of digital tools in crop management, Davide Cammarano’s work is always focused on innovative and state-of-the-art solutions.

As he steps into his new role with ISPA, Davide Cammarano is excited about the opportunities ahead. “Precision agriculture is evolving rapidly, and it’s essential that we continue to foster collaboration and innovation across borders.
