The judging committee awarded the prize to the Institute of Agroecology in Flakkebjerg with the rationale that "the institute is at the forefront of researching the future of agriculture. With a targeted focus on reducing pesticide use through precision spraying in agricultural production, the institute contributes to the development of more sustainable plant protection and ensures clean drinking water for future generations.

The Institute's research on the cultivation of agricultural land in combination with solar cells, as well as their participation in a project monitoring and investigating the consequences of pesticide leaching into groundwater, makes the Institute of Agroecology, Flakkebjerg, a deserving winner of the Sydbank and Envafors Climate & Environment Award 2023."

The award was presented by Lars Fischer, Branch Manager of Sydbank, and Henrik Birch, CEO of Envafors. Lise Nistrup Jørgensen and René Gislum represented Flakkebjerg. The prize, consisting of a tree, a vase, and a diploma, now proudly stands at Flakkebjerg.
