Genetically manipulated crops caused profound changes in agricultural practices worldwide, with important impacts on agroecosystems. This research area focuses on the environmental effects of transgenic GM plants, using the conceptual framework of ecosystem services, especially the supporting and regulating services.0 

We contribute to the development of pre-release biosafety tests under laboratory and semi-field conditions, development of post-release monitoring methods, and improvement of environmental risk assessment by developing methods characterising ecosystem functions.
