This research area deals primarily with system analysis on the farm level, including the importance of productivity and the interaction between the farm's various operations on the financial result, environmental effects and long-term development possibilities.
Collaboration with and studies on commercial farms are central to this work in relation to understanding farm-specific innovations and with regard to developing general farm models. Feed supply on animal farms, with a focus on crop rotation and use of animal manure, is an important area of action, because it has great impact on production economics and effects on the environment.
