Participatory approaches to land management - inquiring aspects of farmer involvement and participation in regulatory processes

Main subject area: Participatory approaches; Farm management; food production; nitrogen losses to the environment; planning; social learning; communication

Short project description

The aim of this project would be to explore aspects of stakeholder involvement and – participation in the context of land management. Debates regarding the regulation of Danish agriculture has in recent years emphasized the need for involving stakeholders such as farmers in future regulation of agriculture’s impact on the aquatic environment. One of the assumptions behind this is that further progression in terms of regulation is contingent on the degree to which local stakeholders can be involved in addressing environmental issues in a practical setting. Specific issues which could be explored by the project includes issues of strategic planning, communication, targeted regulation etc.
