Wheat Rust Toolbox

The Global Rust Reference Centre (GRRC) is actively involved in the Disease Early Warning and Advisory System (DEWAS) that is a component of the Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI). Working with CIMMYT, and many other partners we developed the Wheat Rust Toolbox as a database and a web platform including tools for data upload, storage, analysis and display of the data generated in this project and previous BGRI projects.

The Wheat Rust Toolbox

The Wheat Rust Toolbox is a data management, analysis and display system for global wheat rust data. All data that has been quality controlled will be made public via maps and charts on the GRRC website (this website).  

Some people can login and have acces to different part of the system

  • Appointed surveyers can upload disease surveillance data and edit, download own primary data

  • CIMMYT have access to quality control survey data and after control make data public

  • Data suppliers can login and analyse and download own pathogen data e.g. race and SSR genotype dataData

  • Managers from GRRC and CIMMYT have access to quality control, edit and delete pathogen data

  • Appointed experts can get access to data under quality control and see maps and charts before these will will be released as public

David Hodson, CIMMYT is responsible for providing assess to the Toolbox for partners regarding disease surveillance. Jens G. Hansen is responsible for providing access to the toolbox for partners regarding pathogen data. GRRC and CIMMYT quality controls all pathogen data and Expert groups can be included in the proces whenever needed (e.g. when UG99 is found in a new country). GRRC is responsible for the development and improvements of the Wheat Rust Toolbox
