Crop Genetics and Biotechnology

The purpose of the section is research on genetic and molecular biological studies of crop plants. Using molecular techniques in genetics and biotechnology, we want to look for plant genetic resources for valuable properties that can provide a basis for further development of our crops.

We work with precision breeding, mutation techniques, expression techniques and GMO to develop and improve crop properties for use as feed, food and biomass. We will thereby gain a basic understanding of the mechanisms of growth and development, including in particular the synthesis, transport and deposition of nutrients in leaves and seeds and tolerance to abiotic and biotic stress.
